What is a CSA?

CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  A CSA consists of a group of members who come together to support a farm by purchasing “shares” in advance, before the growing season gets underway.  Members share the risks and the benefits with the farm.

How can I tell if CSA is a good choice for me and my family?

Review our “CSA Quiz” in the drop down menu of the dashboard above to see if this option is a good fit for you!

Do I get to choose the vegetables that are included in a CSA share?

In our box, the farmer chooses the vegetables that are ripe for the picking!  Some will be standard staples (lettuce, root veggies, onions,..) while others might be something you’ve never cooked before.

What's in an average Share?

The weekly CSA share contains a wide variety of fresh, seasonal food, approximately 6-8-10 items. You get what is ready to harvest. Last year we were able to provide members with greens, roots and herbs every week. Those 3 staples are our jam throughout the season. Bunches are similar to those offered at the farmers market. Our goal is to provide you with top quality produce in quantities that you can use. CSA members receive the 1st fruits! The beginning and end of the season tends to be heavier on greens, while at the height of harvest, the produce selection is abundant.

When does the CSA start and how long does it last?

The CSA dates are tentatively Mid-May through August.

Both CSA’s will have a separate sign-up period.

Will I know what will be in my box in advance?

You will receive a weekly email a couple of days before each pickup showing you what to expect in your share that week. A recipe or two plus other cooking/storage hints will be provided! However, as farming is dependent on many factors, our estimates may be altered on any given week, providing a surprise element to your CSA boxes.

What if I can’t pick up my share during the allotted time?  Or, what if I'm on vacation?

It is important to find a way to get your share during the allotted time frame. If you cannot pickup your share, we suggest sending a friend or family member in your place. Due to storage restraints, we cannot guarantee that CSA shares will be available outside of the stated pickup time.  Communication is the key factor so that we can respect each other's schedules. Another option is to give to a “family in need” and we would be more than happy to provide that service.

I grow my own garden so why would I join a CSA?

That’s awesome if you grow your own produce!  As you know, there are many different vegetable varieties out there.  Use the CSA as a supplement to your garden for when your produce isn’t ready or when it has all been harvested.   We grow many varieties so you can try something new.

Can I split a share with someone?

Absolutely yes!  You work out the details and just communicate with us who is paying and who is picking up. Last year we had several members that teamed up with their extended families. It worked out great for everyone involved!

Is there a risk for Members?

While we have been growing vegetables for many years, we cannot control weather and other factors(pests!). Weather can have a detrimental impact on our crops. As members, you share the blessing and risk of growing food. We are committed to doing our best to provide you with healthy, abundant, weekly produce boxes.  We will communicate with you should there be any negative impacts on our farm.
